Montreal experimental-music and performance-art collective Yamantaka // Sonic Titan does piano-driven prog tracks along with spaced-out sludge metal. The self-described “Noh-wave” gang plays behind the impressively cinematic UZU. Also on the docket is Odonis Odonis—which gives garagey surf rock a ghostly lo-fi makeover, submerging the genre's signature twang in a bath of reverb—and Sannhet, which does crushing yet atmospheric instrumental metal in the Russian Circles vein.
