BAM Next Wave Festival. Combining elements of opera, theater, dance and film, cello dynamo Maya Beiser and director Robert Woodruff's cello opera is one rollercoaster ride of a piece. Featuring music by in-demand contemporary composers Missy Mazzoli, Michael Gordon and Eve Beglarian, Beiser and vocalist Helga Davis use text by Henri Michaux to tell the tragic story of Lot's wife, bringing to light women's suffering throughout the ages.
