Nostalgia is the current aesthetic of choice for local restaurateurs, but this coffeeshop—a revival of an ubiquitous chain of the '50s and '60s—takes things a step further. Everything from the setting to the food is a throwback: Black-and-white photos of old New York adorn the walls, while the menu offers midcentury staples like a nut-and–cream-cheese sandwich, strong coffee and egg creams.
