This Hellenic-themed greasy spoon seems, at first glance, like a dime-a-dozen Greek diner: dowdy citrus-colored digs with a long, truck stop–style counter, a Lite FM soundtrack and brunch menu items that resemble IHOP’s: French toast, eggs Benedict and burgers. A meal or two will change your impression entirely, however, particularly if you venture away from diner staples and trust the kitchen to do what it does best: traditional Greek meze. Sharable portions of htipiti, a tasty feta-and-red-pepper dip, and zaganaki, a generous slice of grilled cheese, are a great way to start. Lamb souvlaki is perfectly charred, and hearty enough to fuel you up for whatever Park Slope revelry lies ahead. While we wouldn’t call this a must-do dinner destination, it’s great for take-out. And it has its charms as a local spot. For now, at least, it’s BYO, which means you class up the affair with your own bottle, and nary a corkage fee.
