    Description
Legendary chef-restaurateur Alain Ducasse teamed with the final toque at his defunct Essex House restaurant to open this temple of fine dining (and drinking) in the former L’Espinasse space. Here, wine is the muse (the list includes 70 under-$50 selections among its 1,800-strong list), and chef Tony Esnault’s menu is equally decadent. Entrées, such as a sumptuous tenderloin and short ribs anointed with foie gras–truffle jus, are rich without being heavy. Ditto on the desserts, which include a could-be-legendary chocolate “sorbet”—a cold chocolate core surrounded by a coating of pudding, coffee granita, vanilla cream and, in a Ducasse-worthy flourish, a gold-leafed chocolate disk.
