In its earliest days, this Obie Award–winning East Village fixture was in founding poet Miguel Algarin's living room, but in the intervening three and a half decades, it has grown into a well-housed, frantically busy support organization, with nearly constant poetry slams, theater projects, jazz evenings and other media crowding onto its stage.
