Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars
In a series of brisk, well-crafted scenes, David Marx's Would introduces us to Daniel, a 14-year-old convict who has been tried as an adult and doomed to life in prison. With the help of a vivacious young pen pal named Alexa, Daniel dives headfirst into the fantasy of what might have been were he not incarcerated. Molly Lyons's direction keeps the focus tight as the plays pans back and forth between real-life sessions with a psychologist and whimsical interludes in which Daniel and Alexa conjure up milestones of an imagined alternate life: first kiss, prom night, marriage, first child. The cast of three is excellent, especially young Jeremy Kahn, who is pretty darn charming for a killer. Bolstered by the smart use of home-movie projections, Would offers moving, wistful theater in a warmly conditional mood.
