“I go to shows at 285 Kent (285 Kent Ave at South 2nd St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 285kentave.com); they book really solid up-and-coming electronic acts that’ll play at an overpriced Manhattan venue in a year or two. Case in point: Grimes did a much-hyped DJ set last year.”

  3. “I’m kind of on a juice craze—I know that sounds really trendy, but I love my juices. I’ll go to Liquiteria (170 Second Ave at 11th St; 212-358-0300, liquiteria.com), which is close to the L, and get either the All Greens with apple or the Beets Me juice, which are $8 for a bottle.”

  4. “Fridays or Sundays I go to The Richardson (451 Graham Ave at Richardson St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-389-0839). It’s low-key and has a nice whiskey selection. But it’s getting scenier; on Saturdays it’s hard to get a seat.”

“I like the classes at Circuit of Change (57 W 16th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, fourth floor; 212-255-0053, circuitofchange.com); they’re a nice mix of relaxing and hardcore. I take their signature class, Mindbody Bootcamp ($19.50 with ten-class pack), which includes core strengthening, cardio, boxing, martial arts, yoga and meditation. I walk out sore but refreshed every time.”
