Barneys sets the prodigious record for housing the most progressive, conceptual and hard-to-find labels in the city. The ground floor offers an excellent selection of accessories such as Hermes watches, Pucci scarves and an in-store shop from Parisian luggage company Goyard, while the shoe department hosts almost every Manolo Blahnik on over (as well as a range of pairs from Miu Miu, Christian Laboutin and Lanvin). The co-op reigns over the top two floors, where you can find more affordable scores, like intricately detailed tops from Mayle, eternally-reliable Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses and an extensive denim bar (complete with the best fitters in the city—they can generally unearth the perfect pair after giving you the once-over). Ranging along the opposite side of the building, you'll find multiple floors of menswear: A slew of denim (Rogan, Earnest Sewn, Paper Denim & Cloth), trendy tops from labels like D&G and Loomstate along with more conservative workwear such as gorgeously cut Prada suits and bespoke shirts from Houston-based Hamilton. In the basement, apothecary goods—Serge Lutens powders, Frederic Malle perfumes, Kanebo shampoos—prevail, while the Chantecaille Energy Spa, which lives on the fourth floor, offers excellent signature facials and microdermabrasion.
