A nicely appointed venture set up by the MaMaison group, the Riverside offers surprisingly good deals on its basic rooms, which are anything but basic. The historic building on the city's riverfront has been restored to its original state of elegance and comes with commanding views. All of the rooms contain modern but plush furnishings and tiled bathrooms that invite a soak. Wooden cabinets and floors balance out the cream and ivory walls to wonderfully calming effect. Although there's no restaurant or gym, service is top-notch, and returning here after a meal may rate as highly on the pleasure scale as the feast itself.
