Armando al Pantheon review Rate it

Armando is a simple, no-frills trattoria of the kind that is very rare to find just a few yards from an A-league tourist attraction. But, right by the Pantheon, it has all the hallmarks of authenticity: cork walls, indifferent artworks, a pretty, stained-glass entrance and friendly service from the family that has run it for the last couple of generations. The menu is almost unchanging (we can vouch personally for the last 21 years), with classics like fettucine all'Armando (with mushrooms, peas and tomatoes) or ossobuco - reliable but with few pretensions. The only concessions to changing times are some filling vegetarian dishes and a much-expanded wine list, which now contains seriously interesting bottles.

We have been to Rome perhaps 20 times or more over the last 20 years and Armando's is our favorite restaurant. Traditional Roman food cooked well and really great hospitality. Chef's daughter is head waiter/manager; her uncle runs the cash register. This is a well kept secret.....please don't tell anyone else!!!
