Ahead of next week's World's 50 Best Restaurants announcement, the awards' organisers have released the 51-100 list to the public – and two Singapore-based restaurants are on it.

After a selection process that saw almost 1,000 gastronomes, restaurateurs, chefs, critics and food writers in 27 different regions around the world weighing in with their favourites, Singapore's Waku Ghin snagged 70th spot – ahead of Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck at 73rd, we must add – and JAAN took 74th place. Earlier this year, Waku Ghin and JAAN ranked ninth and 11th, respectively, on Asia's 50 Best list; Tetsuya Wakuda, the chef-owner of Waku Ghin, also took home the Lifetime Achievement Award. Restaurant Andre, the city's top-ranked establishment on the Asia list at fifth place, is thankfully absent on this preliminary World's 50 Best list, so there might be more good news to come.

In the meantime, stay tuned and cross fingers with us in the hope that we'll see more of Singapore's top restaurants hit the list. The World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards ceremony will take place in London on June 1.
