Time Out says

With a central borrowing library, reference library and a digital library in tow, National Library aims to be more than just a place for book-reading. Showered with architectural awards before it had even opened, the new building (a replacement for the old National Library on Stamford Road) is designed as two towers, linked by walkways and walled almost entirely with glass. The spacious reference section and the study rooms on the upper floors offer great views across the city. There are some small exhibition spaces, and it also houses the Drama Centre.

What’s on

Asian Board Games Festival

Board game lovers, rise up. The Asian Board Games Festival is hitting up Singapore for the fourth year at the National Library Building to bring together passionate players, game designers and indie publishers to celebrate all things board and card games. Laugh-out-loud party games, competitive card decks, cosy collections, strategy role-playing games – whatever your play style, there’s definitely a tabletop adventure to match. Explore a curated mix of over 300 entertaining titles (which also includes exclusive drops!) from all over the region, spanning Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam and South Korea. Don’t miss ROLLPA by 303 Enterprise, Bhutan’s first-ever homegrown board game, that takes inspiration from its local traditions and teachings in mindfulness. There are also a bunch of Singaporean games to choose from as well, including classics like Chope, Kopi King, Burnout and Next Station. Aside from playing and discovering your next go-to game for gatherings, there are also several fringe activities to look forward to. Sit in on dialogues centred on Asian board games, Q&A sessions with creators and designers, plus a rare behind-the-scenes look at Book Bugs, the card game from NLB Singapore’s flagship reading programme for kids.
