Time Out says

No, you can’t enter from Rosemead. Instead, you’ve got to take a turn into a back alley where a nondescript entrance and an overly familiar signboard greet you. If you didn't already know, the legendary rum bar kept its former signboard just for this moment – for some, it surely tugged on some heartstrings. By now, you’d have spotted a flight of stairs, take it and that’s how you transport yourself to a rum haven that is Sugarhall.

The cosy bar's latest menu, cheekily named Not Too Sweet, is inspired by the bar team’s non-alcoholic favourite drinks. Within this curated assortment of six cocktails, nostalgic flavours take on an alcoholic twist. A good example would be Rose Rosé I Love You ($23) – Sugarhall’s reinvention of bandung. This features Codigo 1530 Reposado Tequila, vetiver, and cherry blossom, subtly infused with the essence of rosé wine.

Boba lovers, don’t sleep on Bobarazzi ($24). Here, bubble tea flavours like milk oolong tea and winter melon are blended with Roku Gin and green apple, then served with Melati caviar.

The fresh menu also includes three other conceptual sections: Not Too Funky shares the bar’s love for rum, Not Too Fancy serves up snapshot-worthy cocktails that does not fall short in the flavour department as well, and Not Too Classic switches up classic cocktails with a Sugarhall twist.

Bar bites are not left out either – enjoy Vegetarian Momos ($16), delicious crispy Nepalese-inspired fried dumplings served with lime yoghurt. Meat seekers, look no further than the Pepper Fry Chicken Ribs ($18) with flavours like gula melaka caramel and tamarind aioli. And for those that just want to be stuffed with carbs, satisfy yourself with a hearty plate of Indomie ($18), complemented by crackling pork belly and sambal matah, topped off with a satisfying sunny side-up Japanese egg.
