The 19th edition of this festival highlights 20 works from contemporary German cinema, all screened in Singapore for the first time.
Curated by Goethe-Institut programmers and themed around the search for identity, the selection includes titles like WWII drama Phoenix and psycho thriller Like a Cast Shadow, alongside other names such as Babai, Lola on the Pea, and Who am I.
The massive hit Head Full of Honey kicks off the line-up with a poignant tale of dementia and its effect on the relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter. And also keep a lookout for a tribute to German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder – the festival is set to screen eight films by the legendary director.
The 19th German Film Festival is at Cathay Cineplexes, The Projector and National Museum of Singapore from Nov 5-15.
