Express lunchtime beauty treatments

Blow + Bar
  • Health and beauty
  • Hair salons
  • Raffles Place

Sip on a glass of bubbly while you pamper your tresses at premium hair salon Blow+Bar's cosy nook in Boat Quay. Specialising in blowouts, the salon nestles itself in a heritage shophouse that boasts eight seats, three hair wash beds, and a balcony that overlooks the bank of Singapore – perfect for that look-at-my-new-‘do Instagram shot. Try the daily blowouts (from $38, depending on hair lengths) that'll have you in and out of the salon in 40 minutes with freshly washed and styled hair to boot.

Sugar K Organic Peel Bar
  • Health and beauty
  • Raffles Place

Let’s face it, not everyone has the time for an hour-long facial every month. Enter Sugar K, a facial peel bar at Central (and a new outlet at Cluny Court) that gives your skin a quick fix in under 20 minutes. The signature organic express peel ($65) uses glycolic acid naturally derived from sugar cane to gently exfoliate the skin, remove dead skin cells and excess sebum from the pores. If you've got another 20 minutes to spare, we suggest adding on the skin gym facial ($128) that uses a multi-polarity electroporation device to stimulate blood circulation and enhance skin firmness.

Flutters

  • Nail salons
  • Raffles Place

The cosy interior of Flutters is every pastel lover's dream come true – especially eye-catching are the neon lights with positive messages hang on the wall above comfy light blue armchairs used for mani-pedi. Go for the express manicure ($12) and pedicure ($18) and top up with any extras your heart desires such as paraffin treatment ($25-$35) and nail art (from $5). As its name suggests, you can also get lash extensions done at Flutters – there are beds discreetly hidden behind a door – but you'll need to carve out at least an hour to get your peepers done.

Ancient Therapy
  • Health and beauty
  • Spas
  • Tanjong Pagar

Categorising Ancient Therapy as a spa is pushing it, as you will not leave feeling pampered and there is actually a chance you’ll walk out with a few bruises. But no pain, no gain – right? These people are there for one thing, and one thing only: to get those kinks out. And they will stop at nothing. Expect a no-frills atmosphere and strict ‘keep quiet’ policy as you sit in the chair while getting abused, err, we mean massaged. Only for those with a high level of pain tolerance.
