Geylang often gets dissed as a seedy red-light district, but many people forget that it’s actually a fascinating neighbourhood full of cheap, good food. Drop by Yong He to try its specialities: beancurd, and you tiao (deep-fried dough) with floss – the latter can be eaten plain, dipped in soybean milk or vinegar (don’t knock it before you try it). Since it’s open 24 hours, it’s a popular supper place for both people-watching and straight-up feasting.
Yong He Eating House was included in our One Night Stand feature.
