Casserole at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa is a haven for all vegans or vegetarians – it’s the very first restaurant in a Singapore hotel with a meat-free menu. The entire space has been thoughtfully designed with bursts of greenery, as a nod to the plant-based alternatives that are now readily available worldwide.
What makes Casserole stand out is that it follows a family-style dining concept: a rotating menu of casserole dishes are part of the chefs’ specials. You’ll also notice that Casserole doesn’t strictly follow the flavours of one particular cuisine – the menu instead reads like a delightful mix of Asian fare along with Indian and Western influences.
Try the Banana Leaf Dry Braised Beef Rendang ($28) or the Middle Eastern Spiced Kebab & Falafel ($24) for a delicious start to meat-free dining. The Casserole Fried Rice ($18) is also a popular choice for its meat-free satay and garlic prawns, accompanied with a dollop of spicy sambal. If you’re lapping up the meat-free satay, you can also order a separate serve of the Charcoal Grilled Satay ($24) which comes with lontong (rice cake) and vegan peanut sauce.
Casserole also offers organic wines and unique cocktails, featuring fresh sprigs of garnish that have been grown in-house. There is also a children’s menu available, with dishes like meat-free Breaded Fish Fingers and Beef Spaghetti Bolognese.
