Time Out says

This 90-minute guided tour takes place at the Asia Pacific Breweries plant in Tuas and begins at the Visitors' Hall, where two videos will be screened – one on the art of brewing beer, and another on the history and heritage of Tiger Beer. Introduced in 1932, Tiger was the Little Red Dot's first locally brewed beer, and here you'll have time to admire the display of Tiger bottles and collaterals from across the decades.

Keep an eye out for the World War II version, which had a lower alcohol content due to a shortage of ingredients; instead of a tiger, it had a cub as the logo. The next stop is the Ingredients Display Kiosk – imagine an open-air school laboratory – an interactive showcase of the grains, hops and yeast used in each Tiger brew.

It's not until halfway through the tour that you get to see the nerve centre of the operation: a steamy brew room, fully automated, that houses German-made malt mills and a 'mash tun' (industrial tank) that stores over 440,000 litres of warm water, a lauter tun, copper worts, fermentation and storage machines, and filters.

The penultimate stop is the newly built Packaging Gallery, an 18m-long structure that's shaped like a beer bottle, took six weeks to build, and houses an interactive bottling game station and a collection of Tiger Font. You can catch up on Tiger Beer TV commercials and try your hand tapping a perfect pint of beer after a demonstration.

When the tour ends at the Tiger Den memorabilia store, the real fun commences at the Tiger Tavern, a charming drinking hole, which is only open for tours. This is where you can sample the different beer brands manufactured by Asia Pacific Breweries. Apart from a fresh serving of Tiger Beer, you can also help yourself to a glass of Heineken, ABC Extra Stout and Anchor Beer. Be quick, though: you only have 45 minutes. Ashika Wong
