In Memoriam – Lee Kuan Yew
Following the passing of Lee Kuan Yew, the National Museum of Singapore has put together an exhibition to commemorate the life and work of the nation’s founding father and former prime minister. Spanning across his formative years as a law student at Cambridge University to his final years as minister mentor, the show comprises a selection of photographs, video recordings and artefacts from the National Collection.
Tattoo in Colour
Ten tattoo artists present artworks using a Pantone colour of their choice in the fifth instalment of tcc – The Gallery’s PantoneMyArt series. We chat with three local tattoo artists ahead of the exhibition.
Ten artists reflect on the 2014 Indonesian presidential election, during which social media played a part in giving the general public a voice and resulted in the populist Joko Widodo winning the vote.
OH! Open House
Our favourite art walkabout is back! This edition of OH! Open House takes over the beautiful Joo Chiat neighbourhood, with artists presenting works after completing residences in the homes of people who live there. Highlights include Hafiz Osman’s sculpture – a tall bicycle that’s twice the height of a normal one – and an installation at Fragrance Hotel, by Mark Thia and Mike Chang, which explores the theme of loneliness in motels.
The latest group show at Chan Hampe Galleries features more than ten local artists presenting pieces created as a response to another artwork of their choice. We chat with three presenting artists on their interpretations.
The Great Egg-Venture 2015
From special Easter brunches and mass egg-painting activities to an art exhibition and the chance to win staycation deals, there’s something for everybody at this family-friendly fiesta. In between the fun and games, however, make like a bunny and hop around the nooks and crannies of Sentosa HarbourFront to dig up a hundred hidden hand-painted giant eggs!
