Christmas Wonderland Festive Market
If you’ve never swooned over the glühwein and bratwurst on offer at a German Christmas market, here’s your chance. The Christmas Wonderland Festive Market at Gardens by the Bay is modelled after a traditional European one, with an epic spiegeltent (‘mirror tent’) as the fair’s centrepiece. Be sure to bring your cameras along because the gardens will be done up with dazzling 16 metre-tall arches and handcrafted Luminarielight sculptures from Italy. The festive market is open 3-11pm daily until 21 December;the light displays will go on every day, 7pm to midnight , until 1 January 2015.
Dim Sum Dollies: The History of Singapore
The beloved trio is back with the second installment of their History of Singapore saga, with Denise Tan taking the place of late, great Emma Yong as they take us through the decades from the 1960s all the way up to the present day. Read our interview with Denise Tan, the newest member of the Dollies. Parental guidance is advised for children under the age of 16 due to the socio-political references in the play.
Simon Green, otherwise known as Bonobo, gets on the ones and twos at Velvet for a DJ set. Expect to be taken on a sonic journey with smash hits from his albums like Animal Magic, Days to Come, Black Sands and The North Borders, his most recent – and successful – record.
MYSTICA, the Night Safari’s signature event, returns, this time featuring an epic quest on which young explorers can embark to unearth hidden riches. The first 200 visitors to complete it every night will win special prizes at the end of the evening – will it be you? Even if it isn’t, you can still enjoy the festive decorations, costumed characters and, of course, all the animals parading around the zoo.
Boundless Seas – Bada
Five Korean artists present contemporary ceramics that blur the distinction between art and product. On top of sculptural pieces, there are also ceramics for everyday uses.
Peter Pan - The Never Ending Story
Photo credit: Leslie Artamonow We saw a much more macabre adaptation of JM Barrie’s beloved fairy tale as part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts back in September, but with Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to go back to the original bedtime story of Peter Pan, the Darling kids, and Captain Hook. Fly away to Neverland with songs by Robbie Williams, Westlife, Josh Groban and more. We are giving three lucky winners a set of four category one tickets (worth $138 per ticket) each. Participate in our contest here.
