The UBC Botanical Garden is a somewhat hidden (but sizeable) jewel at the intersection of SW Marine Drive and W16th Avenue. The garden sprawls over 110 wildly distinctive acres, with, at one extremity, an Asian garden with rare rhododendrons, and at another an alpine rockery growing rare vines and dwarf conifers. The site can be walked briskly in 90 minutes, and an extensive trail system includes the Walk in the Woods through an undisturbed second-growth forest.
