Housed in the same building as the Vancouver Museum, the Space Centre is a small but well thought-out attraction that appeals most to school-age children. Much of this interactive exhibit employs computer screens, where budding astronauts can practice skills such as planning an interplanetary research mission. Hourly presentations in the lecture theatre on diverse science-related subjects move at a clip and are 'performed' by actors, and the Virtual Voyage full-motion simulator allows kids and adults alike to play Captain Kirk for a bumpy ten-minute star journey. Admission includes the audio-visual shows in the top floor planetarium (up to five daily on weekends). Evening laser shows featuring music by Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and (inevitably) Pink Floyd are extra ($10.75). Note: An Explore pass allows access to all three Vanier Park museums for $30 (adult), or $24 (youth and seniors).
