Once the largest theatre on North America's Pacific Coast, this is an incredible venue for a live rock show. While unassuming from the exterior, inside its vaulted ceiling, ornate chandelier and gilded decor often rival stage performers for the audience's attention. The Orpheum is the permanent home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra but the room's acoustics lend themselves well to any style of music, though a lack of resonance means it's not great for soloists and smaller choirs. For these lower-volume performances, try to sit centre balcony, just behind the dress circle, for the best sound.
