The menu here delivers all that you’d expect from a Mexican joint – tacos, tortillas, nachos – but it’s a long way from the familiar Mex-Tex stodge Australian diners endured last century. Zippy flavours, unexpected ingredients and housemade hot sauces broaden the experience, with a culinary scope extending beyond just Mexico to include Brazil, Colombia, Cuba and even Korea. The graphics and interior design are witty and convincing, as are the authentic Master Kim’s 5-star beef and chicken tacos (no cardboard-hard taco shells here) and the Brazilian black bean stew, best sluiced down with a Chilean golden ale or a classic Margarita. There’s a good kids’ menu, too.
