The Mill says
Kenopsia: The eerie, forlorn feeling of a place that is usually bustling with people, now abandoned and quiet.

Hand-processed, film photographs of old Nepali architecture, taken in the days leading up to the 2015 earthquake set a scene of hand crafted beauty and aged cultural identity. Sadly, many of the buildings featured do not stand today. The dark and brooding imagery, by coincidence, appropriately reflects the feeling the artist experienced in the city of Kathmadu, when the narrow streets and tall buildings were left abandoned immediately after the tragic event in April 2015.

Funds raised from donations and sales will contribute directly to a fundraising Initiative by Parma Launay. This initiative will fund a development project on the ground in Nepal this October and November. The project will work to build an earthbag school in the region of Sindulpachock, in conjunction with First Steps Himalaya. The initiative follows on from the 2015 Parma Launay fundraiser, which raised $5k for the construction of an earthbag building for Karma flights. First Steps Himalaya are a NZ NFP based in Nepal, previously responsible for several rebuild projects to assist those affected by the 2015 earthquakes.

Please join The Mill on the opening night to view the latest photography series by Alicea Garcia, and perhaps contribute to a worthy cause.

Opening Night Friday 30th September 6pm-10pm.
