Film Night: Possession says
Possessed by Cinema – Film Night Halloween Program.

A program of three films on the horror of possession, the creeping terror, the final acceptance and then the letting go.

Possession (1981)

Possession tells a tale of the dissolution and transmutation of a marriage, about what happens when love mutates into something else, something vile, something sinister, and something abject... In this atmospheric drama the possession is ambiguous and multiple, is it the jealousy of a husband driven mad by his wife’s decision to leave him? Or the mysterious happenings in a seemingly abandoned room in an apartment building? Do we really want to know what happens after the love has gone? Isabelle Adjani won the Best Actress award at Cannes for her unforgettable performance which interrogates the clichés of hysteria and infidelity which had been the staple of earlier genre horror films. Possession presents the underside of love as a monstrous place where we may lose our identity, our bodies and finally our minds.
