Hybycozo says
Hybycozo are a series of large-scale visual art/lighting objects that will be lighting up Rundle Mall throughout the 2016 Adelaide Fring following an appearance at Burning Man in the USA.

Their appearance in Adelaide will be the first time they’ve been displayed in Australia. They’re the brainchild of environmental scientist Yelena Filipchuk and industrial designer Serge Beaulieu, who quit their tech jobs in San Francisco to pursue their desire to create real world objects.

The two created the pieces in the hope of being able to capture some of the wonder and curiosity that sparked their love of geometric patterns and art. They studied everything from ancient Islamic tiles to the patterns created by particle physicists when modelling the unified field theory.

The Hybycozo pieces are the perfect example of what happens when art and science intersect.

There’ll be six of them stationed throughout Rundle Mall for the duration of the Fringe and a cluster of mini wooden ones hanging in James Place.
