Nurlanthi Weaving The Magic Of Art & Fashion says
Weaving the Magic of Art & Fashion

NURLANTHI (pronounced Nur-lan-di) aims to intensify the relationship between art and fashion in an extraordinary Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultural fashion performance.

Based on the Kaurna word loosely translating to mean ‘the twisting of fibers,’ NURLANTHI will weave its magic drawing on talent from art centers across Australia.

Among the colour explosive line up of nine different collections, the designers include Grace Lillian Lee from Cairns and Darnley Island; Elisa Jane Carmichael from Moreton and Stradbroke Island; MiArt Designs from Mornington Island and Wujal Wujal Art Centre from Queensland.

Hailing from South Australia, APY Lands will be represented through beautiful batiks created by senior artists, as will the works of Ngarrindjeri weavers from Camp Coorong.

Local Indigenous models will grace the stage in wearable art, interacting with the mesmerising and powerful movements of Aboriginal dancers.

Adding to the layers of beauty is the musical brilliance of Electric Fields, whose song “Shade Away” launched the hero soundtrack for Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide.

In a thrilling collaboration Electric Fields will be performing live for NURLANTHI.

Taking the audience on a spectacular dreamlike journey, through textiles, models, adornment and song, NURLANTHI fashionably presents contemporary Australian Indigenous Culture infused with a captivating experience, designed to ignite your senses.
