PRESENTED BY GARY BURROWS, ORANGES AND LENNONS (extended version) is the story of John Lennon in song.
After great reviews and a sellout performance at the February 2016 Fringe more of Lennon’s music has been added. It covers the period during and after the Beatles, together with songs that influenced his writing and performing.

As an original songwriter Gary has also included two of his own works: “I Want to Tell You”, a peace anthem, recorded with Gill Hicks which reflects John’s plea for peace in the world. The other is “Dakota Night” written after Gary visited the Dakota building in New York where John was murdered.

Gary was amused to find out from his grandmother, born and raised in Liverpool, that they were related to the Lennons and his friendship with Ritchie Yorke, John and Yoko’s peace ambassador, convinced him that this concert was a fitting tribute to John’s legacy.

Music has been Gary’s life – he toured Australia as a drummer/singer/songwriter with “Brass Carnival” and later on “The Boys”. Gary’s current band “The Rustlers” are sought after throughout South Australia.

Gary has been inducted into the South Australian Country Music “Hands/Hall of Fame” and recently into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame for his work with APRA over 30 years and his dedication to the music industry as a songwriter/performer and supporter of original music over many more years.

The superb “Oranges and Lennons” band consists of, Rob Pippan: lead and acoustic guitar, Matt McNamee: drums, John Bywaters: bass, Dave Ross: keyboards/guitar, Nanette van Ruiten: vocals, Deb Brunotte: vocals, Gary Burrows: guitar/vocals.
You are ensured a night of “Lennon” nostalgia by the music that captured everyone’s hearts and provided the landscape to many of our lives. Don’t miss this celebration of John Lennon’s work.
