Between The Sheets, New Paintings By Laurel Shear

Time Out says

These paintings are fueled by experiences with lust and loss, ecstasy and grief. The bed serves as a metaphorical frame for two types of death: la petite mort of lovers and the ultimate ending of life. The bed is rectangular; it undulates, moves and receives stains like a traditional painting. Tangled and unkempt bedclothes resemble body parts. The confusing masses become the record of a night’s sleep, evidence of the stillness of a bedridden body, or enactments of multiple orgasms. Laurel Shear is currently living and working in Austin Texas, attending The University of Texas at Austin, and is an MFA candidate in 2015. www.LaurelShear.com
