The Texas Center for the Book and Austin Public Library are TAPPING into another celebration of literacy and libation with the latest installation of Books and Beer. This FREE bookish bash will be held at in.gredients Grocer and promises to be a real page turner!

Festivities begin at 6 PM on Friday, May 13th with discounted beer specials from local favorite Independence Brewing Co., with a portion of sales benefiting the Friends of Libraries and Archives of Texas and their efforts to encourage a lifelong love of reading among Texans of all ages.

The Austin Public Library's human-powered mobile branch, unbound: sin fronteras, will be on hand to sign people up for Library Cards and check out books. The Austin Book Arts Center will also be on site to engage people of all ages in creative, interpretive, and educational experiences related to the arts of the book.

At 7 PM book-lovers are invited to join in the dedication ceremony and unveiling of in.gredient’s very own LITTLE FREE LIBRARY! The one-of-a-kind miniature library was decorated by the eastside's very own Federico Archuleta - Graffiti Western Artist.

The main event of the evening kicks off at 7:30 PM with a special “Friday the 13th Bad Luck Story Hour” (With some help from our friends Meg and John at Backyard Story Night) featuring lighthearted tales of tough breaks, close calls, misfortune and woe. Read a passage from your favorite book or share your very own bad luck story. For more information or to sign up to tell your tale email

Books, beer and backyard stories-what more could you ask for? CHECK IT OUT, we’re sure you are long OVERDUE for a good time.
