The art of Tom Sachs expands to all the senses!
Inspired by Sachs’s functional boombox installations and playful and provocative assemblages, Good Taste: Boombox Food is cooked and orchestrated by Fiore Tedesco, Chef of L'Oca D'Oro, with experimental musician Toto Miranda of the band The Octopus Project.
Tedesco and Miranda’s mixed media response to Tom Sachs: Boombox Retrospective 1999-2015 mashes up the audio with the culinary, echoing the convivial, egalitarian spirit the boombox introduced to street culture.
Urban eighties street foods are translated through L’Oca D’Oro’s Modern Italian prism, while fresh music composed by the collaborators is inspired by the form, circuitry, and visceral effect of Sachs’s boomboxes and their cultural antecedents.
Each sound piece has been created with a specific artwork in mind and is designed to explore the relationship between the work and space—as the boombox made music not just to be heard, but to be seen and felt and, in this case, tasted as well.
Drink Sponsors: Paula's Texas Spirits will be serving a papaya cocktail to complement wine and drinks from Tito's Handmade Vodka and more.
