Learn Russian ("open back") filigree through extensive demonstrations and hands-on exploration. Participants will create both a pendant and ring while learning the necessary steps and tricks to ensure success and fun through this exquisite technique.
Those familiar with Russian filigree from Victoria's DVD will have the opportunity to work on more advanced projects. As time allows, there will be discussions and demonstrations of more three-dimensional possibilities (such as a bead) with the process. Participants must know how to solder with a torch.
Victoria Lansford has generated an international revival of nearly lost metalsmithing techniques through her artwork, publications, workshops, and passion for creating. Her award winning artwork has appeared in numerous juried exhibitions, books, and magazines, including the Lark 500 series, Metalsmith, and on Home & Garden Television. Her instructional DVD and book series, Metal Techniques of Bronze Age Masters, featuring the title Russian Filigree, has sold throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.
Level: Basic metalsmithing skills, students must know how to solder with a torch. Experience bending wire is helpful, but no filigree experience is required.
Tuition: $455 All Materials Included
