Join Mamas of Color Rising & the Women's Community Center staff for a film screening and discussion on Valentine's Day calling attention to reproductive justice issues nationally and right here in Austin, TX. To make sure everyone can attend there will be TWO SCREENINGS. 1st screening- 6:00pm (doors open at 5:30pm) 2nd screening- 7:30pm (seating starts at 7:15pm) The 24-minute documentary, We Always Resist: Trust Black Women, provides an informative history of the struggle for reproductive justice, showing how black women have always considered reproductive rights and justice a fundamental part of how they defined liberation for themselves and their communities. Don't miss this important occasion. Free childcare and free street parking available. The Mamas will be providing delicious home cooked meal and welcoming donations ($10-$15). Here's what's on the menu: Chicken fajita with rice and beans plate Vegan & vegetarian plates Hibiscus tea ♥Plus, chocolate-covered strawberries and apples for your loved ones or yourself!♥ Donations will go towards helping young women of color on WCC staff and in the community attend Color of Violence 4 (COV4)--Beyond the State: Inciting Transformative Possibilities, a conference creating new frameworks that focus on ending violence without relying on policing, mass incarceration, restrictive legislation, and other systems of violence and control.
