Time Out says

Despite being one of the world’s most isolated inhabited islands, Norfolk Island offers plenty of accommodation for visitors. The best part is that there are no five-star, skyscraper hotels to spoil the island’s charm. Every property here is boutique, with a homely feel that wraps you in the warmth of the island and lets you move at your own pace. Seascape Norfolk Island – a collection of four ocean-view cottages – embodies that perfectly.

Set amid lush, flowering gardens just eight minutes from town, Seascape offers two- to four-bedroom villas ideal for both couples, families and larger groups. Each cottage is self-contained, giving you your own private slice of paradise, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious lounge areas and an outdoor deck where you can breathe in the fresh air and admire the Pacific Ocean views.

What is Seascape Norfolk Island like?

A vase of pretty pink flowers, hand-picked from the garden, greets me on the table. In the kitchen, a bowl brims with fresh free-range eggs. My welcome pack even includes a gift card to the local coffee shop and a preloaded local mobile for use during my stay. It’s these thoughtful touches that make Seascape Norfolk Island feel genuinely special.

This boutique collection of accommodations offers a pair of two-bedroom villas, the slightly larger two-bedroom Tern Cottage or the ultimate four-bedroom Horizon Cottage. Walking into Horizon Cottage – my base for my four-night stay on Norfolk Island – I immediately felt like I’ve been welcomed into a local’s home (just one that’s perfectly neat and tidy). There’s a large dining table where I can picture myself throwing dinner parties, a fully equipped kitchen with more pots and utensils than my own, and a private deck complete with a Weber barbecue for lazy evenings. The lounge room offers a television, plus a generous selection of board games and books to entertain you if the weather is misbehaving.

Outside, the garden provides plenty of space to soak up the sun. I appreciated having a clothesline to dry my swimmers after a day at the beach, and the washing machine came in handy after a hike in the national park. Each cottage also comes with Wi-Fi and on-site parking, with car hire available for $80 per day.

My favourite part of Seascape is that each cottage offers ocean views, with fresh sea breezes drifting in through the multitude of windows.

What are the rooms at Seascape Norfolk Island like?

The bedrooms at Seascape are modern, minimalist and thoughtfully furnished, offering all the comforts you’d expect from a home away from home. The beds are nice and comfy – exactly what you need after an activity-packed day. The master bedroom boasts a queen bed, a television, a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite, while the other three bedrooms share a second bathroom and offer a mix of king split and double beds.

Which are the best restaurants near Seascape Norfolk Island?

One of the joys of holidaying on a small island is that everything is just a short drive away. Near Seascape Norfolk Island, the closest spots to eat are at Governor’s Lodge, which houses the casual daytime eatery The Boatshed and the more luxe Bailey’s Lodge for dinner. Just across the road is the charming, laid-back Hilli Restaurant, open for Devonshire tea, lunch and dinner.

A ten-minute drive takes you into town, where you’ll find a strip of cosy cafés. I loved The Olive Café for fresh muffins, toasties and salads, though the Golden Orb Café, Prinke Eco Store and The Helm Café are equally popular. At night, grab takeaway fish and chips from The Reef, unwind in the beer garden at Salty’s, or enjoy sunset pizzas and cocktails at Castaway (home to Norfolk Island Brewing). For a special occasion meal, The Homestead Restaurant is hard to beat. Be sure to check opening hours for each venue and book in advance.

Is there a gym or pool at Seascape Norfolk Island?

Seascape doesn’t have a gym or pool at Seascape, but with Emily Bay Lagoon and the Norfolk Island National Park just a short drive away, you won’t miss them for a second.

What’s the service like at Seascape Norfolk Island?

Run by a husband-and-wife team, Seascape offers service that’s both friendly and relaxed. Claire picked me up from the airport, showed me to my cottage, and gave a thorough run-through of everything. Each guest receives a local mobile with Claire and her husband Jimmy’s numbers already saved, making it easy to reach out if you need anything during your stay.

What’s the area like around Seascape Norfolk Island?

Seascape is tucked away on the southeast side of Norfolk Island, offering peace and quiet, while still being close to everything. The main strip of shops and restaurants is just an eight-minute drive, and Emily Bay and the Kingston Historic Area are less than ten minutes by car.

Other popular spots, including Norfolk Island National Park, the botanic gardens, Captain Cook Lookout, Anson Bay, and the airport, are all within a 15-minute drive.

Why should you book a stay at Seascape Norfolk Island?

With gorgeous garden and ocean views from all four cottages, Seascape Norfolk Island is the perfect place to unwind and soak up the island’s quiet beauty. It’s ideal for families, couples or friends travelling together, offering all the essentials for a comfortable and carefree stay.
