It’s time to clear out your calendars and your wardrobes – Australia’s biggest and best pre-loved treasure hunt returns for two massive weekends this November. We suggest getting a head start on that spring clean-out to make room for lots of newfound treasures at bargain prices. Whether you’re keen to shop or sell, here’s everything you need to know about the annual Garage Sale Trail.
This year’s event is going down across the weekends of November 8-9 and 15-16, with thousands of sales set to pop up across the country. From vintage clothes to classic cookbooks, cult vinyl and rare Lego, Aussies willing to hit the streets will get their hands on some pretty special treasures. If you're roaming through your suburb on the weekend, you'll likely stumble on a garage sale or two, but if you want to plan your shopping spree – coffee breaks included – be sure to check out this virtual map.

The Garage Sale Trail started with two Sydney mates, Andrew and Dazz, who decided they would set up a secondhand stall at a local event in Bondi. Fast-forward 13 years, and Garage Sale Trail has become a nationwide festival with roughly 300,000 Aussies hitting the trails each year, and sellers making an average of $457.
In 2024, 297,792 Australians sold or shopped at more than 13,000 garage sales nationwide – saving 755,261 items from landfill. More than 7,000 sales are already registered across the country this year, featuring 1.6 million items and counting.
Feeling inspired? Hosting your own garage sale is completely free – just register online and the Garage Sale Trail team will send you promo materials to spread the word, plus your sale will be listed on the official website.
