Between parliamentary sessions and museum hopping, it’s easy to pack your days full in Australia’s capital. Add a bushwalk through the Brindabellas or a ride around Lake Burley Griffin, and you’ll certainly be craving some serious R&R. Enter Australia’s first 24/7 self-guided wellness space, which has just opened in the heart of Canberra. Think infrared saunas, LED light therapy, a dry float and the city’s first automated spray tan booth – because who doesn’t want to top up their glow at midnight?

Just minutes from the Australian War Memorial in Campbell, Reverie feels like a luxe wellness destination straight out of Sydney or the Gold Coast. Co-founders Cassandra Smith and Lexi Bannister admit they had slightly selfish reasons for launching the business in August 2025. The pair wanted to create a space where people, from night-shift workers to fellow wellness professionals, could easily fit self-care into their daily routine – no small talk required.

Open around the clock, members can enjoy a range of scientifically-backed treatments whenever it fits their schedule. Bookings are made via an app, with guests granted seamless access to the building and private treatment suites via Bluetooth technology. Yep, that means no unnecessary chit-chat, no wait times and no interruptions.

The space was designed to feel both large and grand, yet safe and secure. Muted tones, soft lighting and curved walls create an instant sense of calm, while organic stone floors absorb stress and sound healing music soothes the mind.

Reverie offers five signature wellness treatments, combining time-honoured, scientifically-backed techniques with modern technology. On the ground floor, you’ll find two infrared saunas – one offering red-light chromotherapy detoxification and the other paired with a contrast therapy ice bath.

Upstairs, Reverie’s most popular session, the dry float, offers a weightless, water-free experience that combines LED and sound therapy. You’ll feel like you’re drifting through space, and not a single drop of water touches your skin. Afterwards, step next door for an LED light therapy skin session, with treatments targeting everything from rejuvenation to pain relief, acne and pigmentation care and cellular repair.

Finally, there’s Canberra’s first fully automated spray tan booth. With 12 shades to choose from, the four-minute session will have you glowing in no time. And don’t worry, simple step-by-step instructions in each suite let you kick back and enjoy the journey. You can find out more about Reverie and book a session here (1am sauna session, anyone?).
