If there’s one situation where day drinking is socially acceptable, it’s in the sky. A cheeky glass of wine not only washes down those in-flight jitters and eases the pain of being stuck in the middle seat, but kickstarts vacation vibes before you even touch down. And now, anyone who's jet-setting with Qantas over Christmas can enjoy an earlier travel tipple thanks to the airline's extended onboard economy bar service hours across all domestic and regional flights.

Qantas isn't exactly everyone’s favourite Australian company right now, but is slowly creeping its way back into Santa’s good books with this well-timed Christmas news. For the first time in the airline’s history, domestic economy customers can treat themselves to a complimentary alcoholic beverage from midday, including a glass of premium Australian red or white wine, or a Fifty Lashes premium pale ale. That’s four more hours of wine-time, compared to the airline’s previous on-board bar service that only kicked off at 4pm.

Drinking on a plane feels a lot more naughty than drinking at sea level, especially when it’s free. So, save yourself for those high-altitude sips.
