Love an office with a view? We may have just found the coolest one!
The Whitsundays – easily one of the most beautiful places on Earth – is officially recruiting for what they’ve dubbed 'the best job in Australia’. Stepping into the role of Chief Icon Officer, the lucky candidate has one clear mission: to find out what makes The Whitsundays so iconic. A pretty easy job, if you ask me!
Valued at $10,000, this ten-day contract role includes return domestic flights, accommodation, food and experiences. From snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef and swimming at Whitehaven Beach to hiking, mountain biking and reviewing the local dining scene, all you need to do is document it all on The Whitsundays’ social media channels.
Oh, and you get to bring an ‘executive assistant’, with all their expenses covered too. Sounds like the ultimate ‘bring your bestie to work’ day.
To apply, simply post a video on TikTok or Instagram with the #iconofficer hashtag, answering one of these three questions: show the Tourism Whitsundays team why you're an icon, showcase your favourite local icon (a person, place or thing), or tell them what makes something iconic. There’s also a short form you’ll need to fill out here.
Applications are open now and close on May 8, with the role starting sometime between May and July, 2026. Best job ever!
