What do Qantas, a beef pie and jam drop cookies have in common? They’re all Aussie icons – and the latter two just landed on Qantas’ brand-new domestic menu. This month, the airline is rolling out its revamped economy and business class menus, with almost 70 new and refreshed items rotating every six weeks. Want a taster of what’s coming on board?

Qantas’ fresh in-flight menu celebrates local produce, with a special focus on Indigenous bush tucker alongside modern Aussie classics. But don’t expect chiko rolls, crocodile sausages and wattleseed damper. The business menu elevates familiar favourites, including hearty lamb and rosemary pies with crisp potatoes and peas; red wine Angus beef with mash and green beans; garlic prawn fettuccine with parmesan cream; and smoked salmon with zucchini pickles and lemon dressing.

In economy, passengers can dig into beef ragu and mushroom pies from Sydney-based Simmone Logue, artisan egg and chorizo toasties with smoky tomato chutney from Queensland’s The Handmade Food Co, and beef sausage burrito wraps from Yummy Karma – all served 30,000 feet high.

Sweet treat highlights include Indigenous bush tucker favourites like jam drop cookies from Cooee Cookies by proud Wiradjuri woman Terri-Anne ‘Tezzi’ Daniel and macadamia butterscotch cake from DreamTime Tuka by Uncle Herb Smith.

Qantas is also upping its business lounge game, meaning frequent flyers can pre-game in style before takeoff. At The Bakery in its Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge, expect freshly made cinnamon scrolls, egg and bacon quiches, and classic Aussie sausage rolls after midday. From November, guests visiting Melbourne’s Domestic Business Lounge can head to the Spice Bar for nasi goreng with fried egg or poached eggs on sourdough with chilli oil. Finally, Perth Business Lounge members can look forward to bacon and egg pizzas from the Pizza Bar. Just don’t fill up too much – you’ll want to save room for your in-flight feast.
