Red Bull Hardline returns to Tasmania from February 7 to 8, featuring a new course and new spectator zones

Big news for mountain bikers – and anyone who loves an adrenaline rush! The world’s most gruelling downhill mountain bike competition, Red Bull Hardline, is returning to Tasmania in February for its biggest event yet. With a tough new course and all-access spectator zones, this heart-pumping MTB spectacle is one to add to your 2026 sporting bucket list.
If you haven’t heard of the Red Bull Hardline, there’s a reason why. Tasmania is the only location outside its home in Wales to host this insane MTB festival, with the 2026 edition going down at Maydena Bike Park (80-minute drive from Hobart) from February 7 to 8. What sets the Hardline apart from other downhill mountain bike races is that all athletes are hand-picked by industry experts – no applications, no qualifying events. Rest assured, the 2026 line-up features many of the world’s best male and female bikers, including past Hardline winner Jackson Goldstone, Junior World Champion Asa Vermette, local fan favourite Connor Fearon, Hardline women’s champion Gracey Hemstreet and past finalist Louise-Anna Ferguson.
In 2026, Red Bull Hardline is upping the ante of its intense 3.4-kilometre course, combining technical 60km/h descents, massive ten-metre drops and huge freeride-style jumps with a newly redesigned top section.
This year’s competition is bigger than ever for fans too! Spectators can get into the heart of the action with all-access viewing zones spanning the full course, plus new mountain shuttles running to the summit for the best angles. Off the track, the festival atmosphere continues with an expanded entertainment and riding program, plus live commentary, across Maydena Bike Park.
Keen to catch the action? Final release tickets are on sale now from $55, with camping available in the nearby national park. Shuttle buses will also run to and from Hobart CBD, and those who can’t make it to Tassie can catch the live stream on Red Bull TV.
