When: Mid-October to mid-November
In mid-October, Sydney’s jacaranda trees come into their fabulous lilac bloom, leaving a carpet of purple petals across the city. Kirribilli’s McDougall Street is without a doubt the most photogenic floral stretch, where arching branches create a flowering canopy overhead. You can also head to the Royal Botanic Gardens for a peaceful, purple picnic, then wander through Circular Quay and the cobblestoned streets of The Rocks to admire the trees with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as your backdrop. If you’re itching for a jacaranda-themed mini road trip, the impressive corridor on Argyle Street in Camden, just southwest of Sydney, is another must-visit.
