When travelling with kids, there’s no question repeated more than “Are we there yet?” – let alone when the destination lies approximately 20+ hours from Australia… What if there was a way to slice your travel time in half – where the stopover is just as spectacular as the destination?
Enter: Singapore Airlines. Arrive at one of the most beautiful and well-designed airports around the globe (voted World's Best Airport 2025 by Skytrax, to be precise). With its own Butterfly Garden, the world’s tallest slide in an airport and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, Changi Airport, and the adjoining entertainment and retail complex Jewel Changi Airport, is a destination in itself for the young and the young at heart. But don't stop at the airport. With something new always on, and loads of family activities, here are a few reasons Singapore could be your next pitstop before Europe, Asia, the USA or Africa.
Stretch your legs in abundant gardens
It’s not a trip to Singapore without a visit to the famous Gardens by the Bay. The whimsical 101 hectare stretch is split into multiple sections that will take you from glistening views during the day to magical lightshows synchronised to music at night. Don’t miss the Singapore Botanic Gardens – it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and not just a pretty face. The ever-evolving flora here has contributed to big advancements in botanical science. For the little ones, Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden is Asia’s largest garden dedicated to kids and you can see why with the exciting waterplay.
Have a joyride at the theme parks
Think of Sentosa Island as your high-octane hotspot. In one place, you’ve got the stomach-churning rollercoasters at Universal Studios Singapore, the winding racetracks of the Skyline Luge, and the HydroDash floating aqua park by the beach. This summer there’s also a special pop-up to look out for: watch Resorts World Sentosa transform to shades of green and pink just in time for ‘Wicked: For Good’.
Go exploring at the zoo
Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Reserve is made up of five zoological parks that are far more engaging and interactive than your regular zoo exhibits. The latest opening in 2025, Rainforest Wild Asia, is like stepping into a page of ‘The Jungle Book’, Bird Paradise allows you to walk through eight aviaries, River Wonders is totally dedicated to river-dwelling animals (hello, pandas!) and the open concept of Singapore Zoo allows you to see your favourites like orangutans and giraffes up close. Jetlag got you out of whack? You can actually check in at the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree and then hop aboard the Safari Adventure Tram for a visit to the reserve’s nocturnal residents in action on the Night Safari.
