Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) is an expert dance teacher and a consummate lover. Baby Houseman (Jennifer Grey) is a bored and innocent 17-year-old. One summer they meet at the retreat where Johnny works. They're from different sides of the track, but when the music plays and the dirty dancing begins, the differences that separate them disappear.
