Established in Madrid, the Cuban drummer Michael Olivera is one of the most respected and admired planet jazz figures in orbit around these parts. The presentation of his first album, Ashé, is a real event, both because of the originality of some of his own compositions and the selection of a quintet that includes Brazilian bass player Munir Hossn; the Menorcan pianist Marco Mezquida; Caribbean sax player Ariel Brínguez, and the vocals of the incredible Myriam Latrece.
