If you've been introduced to the world of calçots, fantastic! But have you tried them in other forms? Since we so far haven't heard of any group or association against harvesting vegetables, we're happy to inform you that on Saturday, March 9, from 11.30am, you can attend a free tasting from among the 2,000 calçot fritters on hand at the Sant Antoni Market. Though you'll find two tasting areas inside the market (at the entrances from C/Borrell and C/Urgell) to make the fritters available to more hungry and curious visitors, you might want to get there early, as these tasty treats are expected to go fast. The artisanal fritters will be freshly made in a Sants kitchen with the original recipe from the CETT cooking school. You're guaranteed prime raw materials, as the event is sponsored by AGEM, the vegetable wholesalers union of Barcelona and Mercabarna. You'll also find a workshop for kids so they can become familiar with seasonal products such as peas, artichokes and calçots.
