Queensland Music Awards says
QMusic is excited to reveal the 2017 finalists for the annual Queensland Music Awards, presented by Hutchinson Builders and Bank of Queensland - BOQ, with support from APRA AMCOS. The winners will be announced at the QMA awards ceremony at the BRISBANE POWERHOUSE on March 27.

After months of deliberation by over 60 esteemed industry judges, a diversity of established and emerging songwriters spread far across the State have emerged triumphant from thousands of entries. Leading the nominations is Capricornia’s Tia Gostelow, followed closely by the sultry songstress from the tropics, Leanne Tennant Music. They sit alongside fellow multi-nominees and previous category winners Amy Shark, Cub Sport and Dubmarine. First time nominees, Good Boy, Hanlon Brothers and ROMY are testament to the strength of Queensland music – a full list of the 24 category finalists can be found at www.queenslandmusicawards.com.au

Another highlight of the awards ceremony will be the bestowment of Arts Queensland’s $10,000 Billy Thorpe Scholarship to an emerging Queensland-based contemporary musician or band. The scholarship is an initiative of the Queensland Government to support new local talent. The four finalists in the running for this prestigious award are WAAX, Marville, Josh Stewart (The Ninjas / High Tropics) and Ella Fence.

The BOQ People’s Choice Award celebrates the achievements of Queensland artists who began their careers in the sunshine state and are now taking on the world. Music fans across the country are invited to have their say through the publicly voted categories, Most Popular Male, Most Popular Female and Most Popular Group, with voting now open via the TheMusic.com.au.

Voters will go into the draw to win a double pass to party with a friend at the Queensland Music Awards ceremony at Brisbane Powerhouse on March 27, including overnight accommodation at @TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, Brisbane.
