Byron Short says
Country Conquers Cancer: A Love Song For Garry R. Wood, will see over 20 of Brisbane’s best Country and Americana artists take to the stage at The Zoo, on Thursday 28 January. Performing a mix of home grown originals and iconic covers, this community will be banding together to raise vital funds for their friend Garry Wood and the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland. They’ll be joined by house band Byron Short & The Sunset Junkies for one doozy of a hoedown.

Garry Wood, an incredibly talented, Nashville-based multi instrumentalist with a strong Brisbane connection has recently been diagnosed with stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is in need of financial and emotional support throughout his recovery.

For several years Garry worked at Music City Hostel in Nashville, Tennessee where he met and befriended a great many travelling musicians from all over the world including Brisbane based artists Cameron Milford and Byron Short. He has always been eager to offer his musical talent and expertise to help his friends realise their artistic vision and is part of a musical family that extends across the Pacific.

In a show of solidarity, an array of artists representing the Country/Americana scene in Queensland have kindly lent their time and talent to present Country Conquers Cancer: A Love Song for Garry R. Wood.

All proceeds will be split evenly between Garry's medical bills and cancer research in Australia.

Tickets are $10 pre sale and $15 on the door.
