Ella Fence

Endearing. Alluring. Captivating.

Introducing Cinematic Folk, the musical and visual that is Ella Fence. From her first musical note played before you see a single image, your mind already wanders into a great western film scene with Nancy Sinatra as the leading lady. Performing either solo or as the front-woman of her three-piece, all-female trio, Ella Fence touches the senses, evokes emotion and captivates audiences.

Not only did Ella record the first 4 tracks of her debut EP, Wanderlust, at the renowned Brighton Electric Studios (UK) (home to artists such as The Cure and Royal Blood) with producer Dan Swift (Snow Patrol, Passenger), she then travelled to Paris to record the b-side track with Ken Stringfellow (REM, The Posies).

Ella has returned to the UK to produce new music with Dan Swift at Brighton Electric. While in the UK, Ella Fence is learning from the best in the business, working with Grammy-Award Winner Terry Britten (who has written with Tina Turner, Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John and Michael Jackson), Nick Coler (who has written with Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Gabriella Cilmi) and David Lowe (TV and Radio composer for BBC).

With her debut EP turning heads, there is considerable excitement for Ella Fence’s projects, so much so in fact that she secured an International management deal in June 2015. Owner of Rugged Management (UK), Phil Pickett (of Boy George and Culture Club fame), contacted Ella directly after watching the film clip of her debut single, Unknown Water (produced by Double Deuce), offering her a contract.

The Wanderlust EP also spiked interest in the radio world, making the top 20 on New York’s Breakthru Radio and top 10 on 4ZZZ Brisbane. It was also added to several community, college and independent radio stations in the USA and rotation on multiple radio stations across Australia—including triple j unearthed, 2SER, ABC Gold Coast, 4ZZZ Brisbane, SYN Melbourne and was also spun on triple j.

A 2015 Grant McLennan Fellowship finalist, with a musical theatre point of difference, Ella Fence has the edge to offer an outstanding live show. After performing a key role in a major production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Ella has recently secured the lead role in a reinvented version of Snow White (a collaboration between Opera Queensland, La Boite Theatre Company and Brisbane Festival)

With flavours of European and British influence, her debut EP, Wanderlust, transcends cultural parameters. Ella is a little cloud with a lot of lightning, and with performance experience spanning from France to England, to Norway, to a self-funded tour along the East Coast of Australia, you don’t want to miss this jetsetter.
